Kurom Buyer Protection

Last updated 8 October 2026

Safe online shopping in Ghana: when you buy from a Kurom Shop and pay through Kurom checkout, Kurom holds your MoMo or card payment until your order is delivered.

How it works

  1. Shop on Kurom. Add products from a Kurom Shop to your cart. The delivery price is shown before you pay.
  2. Pay through Kurom checkout with Mobile Money or card, processed securely by Paystack.
  3. Kurom holds your payment. The shop is told to deliver, but is not paid yet.
  4. Your order is delivered. Check it when it arrives.
  5. The shop is paid only after delivery is confirmed. If something is wrong, tell us within 48 hours and Kurom refunds you from the payment it is holding.

What is covered

  • Your order does not arrive within 7 days of payment.
  • The item is faulty, damaged, wrong, or not as described.
  • You cancel before the shop sends the order out.

What is not covered

For classified ads, meet in a busy public place and check the item before you pay. Read our safety tips.

  • Payments made directly to a seller (cash, MoMo or bank transfer outside Kurom checkout), including most classified ads.
  • Change of mind, unless the shop agrees to it.
  • Problems reported more than 48 hours after delivery.

Why it matters in Ghana

Mobile Money transfers to a stranger are hard to reverse, and paying a "delivery fee" or deposit before seeing an item is the most common way buyers lose money online. With Kurom checkout, the seller never receives your money until you have your order.

Questions

Is Kurom buyer protection like escrow?
Yes. For shop orders paid through Kurom checkout, your MoMo or card payment goes to Kurom, not straight to the seller. Kurom holds it and pays the shop only after your order is delivered and confirmed, the same way escrow works.

Which purchases are protected?
Products from Kurom Shops that you pay for through Kurom checkout (they have an Add to cart button). Classified ads where you pay the seller directly, for example cash or MoMo at a meetup, are not covered.

Does buyer protection cost extra?
No. Buyers pay the product price and the delivery price shown before checkout. Shops pay Kurom a 5% commission plus Paystack's payment fee on protected orders.

How do I get a refund?
Contact Kurom within 48 hours of receiving your order (or within 7 days of payment if it never arrived) with your order number and photos. Approved refunds go back to the MoMo number or card you paid with within 7 working days.

Which payment methods can I use?
MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AT Money and debit or credit cards, processed securely by Paystack.
